Finally, over $35k in high interest debt and only marginal success, I began looking for support from any direction possible until the day I finally broke down.
That day, I turned to the open space in my car and asked for guidance, I asked for a community, I asked for a message. Within 10 minutes I found myself hearing a poet. I don't even remember what she said, but I was mesmerized knowing I had found my messenger. When I shared my vision and desire for community she was eager to introduce me to the community, telling me there were thousands of people who are ready to play this game with me along side of me.
So, I jumped in with everything I had to give. To cover the cost for the training I borrowed and worked handyman jobs. Within 2 weeks into the Leadership Program I made 100% of my money back. What I had discovered was the power of intention. I had let go of beliefs that were holding me back and found myself experiencing the world with a whole new view on who I was in relationship to my community. All of a sudden, I had something significant to contribute and I was happy to share myself in powerful ways.
Now, almost 20 years later, I am married with three children and the inaugural head coach for the Professional Ultimate Disc team in Charlotte, NC. I use the work in my marriage, in my parenting, and as a leader every day. It has outlasted any other investment I have ever made in terms of its impact on my life.
