#442 When I did WorldLegacy trainings in 2008 I was the director of a multi-million dollar US government-funded global polio eradication project. The confidence, courage and the relationship-building and negotiation skills I got in the training made it possible for me to create a relationship with the Gates Foundation, win millions of dollars from that Foundation for the project, and expand the project into South Sudan, protecting millions of additional children from life-threatening diseases. I’m very proud and grateful for all of those accomplishments, but the difference the training made for my family means even more to me. My mother was diagnosed with cancer while I was in the training, and ultimately I moved home and for two years took care of her and my father, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. If I hadn't done the training, I would have taken all the actions to give my mother good care, but I would have felt nothing but anger, sorrow and fear, and would have behaved with nothing more than grim determination. Instead, because of the training I was able to create laughter and joy every day for myself, my parents, and the other people in our lives!
