- Fri Sep 07, 2007 9:43 pm #270 "Amazingness" happens in less than a week! NC 94 chose to complete a garden for senior adults who use the Durham Center for Senior Life. The space had been a fenced waste land of grass, rocks, and hard clay. We found out we needed to get the permit renewed to pour the concrete walkways and plant the gardens, and we were told it could not be re-approved in nearly enough time. The folks at the center doubted it could happen, much less have someone donate concrete, pour it, get plants, three benches, and two tables with umbrellas donated, and get the beds planted by the end of the week. Everything was completed within the week, and the fun and fellowship we created was powerful. My favorite memory was looking up at the windows during the day and noticing for the first time, the signs lovingly written that said "thank you for our garden."
