#254 While in LP I've learned over and over again that with giving (as with everything else), there's always another level. While we worked on our project I spent a lot of my time sending emails and working to get volunteers at the site. When the day of our project came, it turned out it really just my friends that I had invited that came. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed.
Midway through the day, one random stranger wandered in. I was pleased to see an unexpected face so I introduced myself and spoke with him for a few minutes. After a few questions, I realized that one of the hundreds of emails that I had spent time writing and sending out to many a group had reached this man. He was one of the hardest workers that we had and was just an honest soul eager at the opportunity to selflessly help his community.
All the time and effort I had put into gathering volunteers was incredibly worth it, solely because this man had the opportunity to give to his community that day, and was there for no reason other than that. It was a beautiful reminder that people do want to give, and that his giving was inspiring to me as well.
