This year when I inquired about the Shriners Hospital Sea Kayak program the director told me that she didn’t have the time to put it together. I asked her what it would take to make it happen. She gave me a list including cleaning and repairing 6 kayaks, getting some volunteer instructors, getting things organized the night before and putting everything away afterwards. I did all of these tasks in excellence and made it happen. We had 15 children that got to experience the freedom of being on the water, laughing, paddling and picnicking on an island in the Willamette River. I still flash back to the joy expressed in their faces. I made a difference.
