Every day I am driven to do my job because I know I am helping one person at a time, one word at a time. Coordinating a community of adults learning to read is not an easy task. What is easy is showing up and giving.
My job got a little bit harder on Wednesday when I was called to do an interview with ABC News 11. I started to get nervous and doubtful of myself. But then I remembered what I learned from the workshops. It is not about me, it is about the people I serve. It is about the student who is learning to read to get a better job, to help their kids with their homework, to advocate for their own health care.
I was able to shift quickly, release my self doubt and show up with passion, energy and drive to serve.
